The nature and origin of upper mantle heterogeneity beneath the Mid-Atlantic Ridge 33–35°N: A Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic perspective

چکیده
We present new Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic data on mid-ocean ridge basalts from two segments (OH-1, OH-3) between the Oceanographer and Hayes fracture zones at Mid-Atlantic Ridge 33–35°N to constrain nature origin of upper mantle heterogeneity beneath Ridge. Together with major trace elements (Niu et al., 2001), illustrate that sources these lavas comprise three components, i.e., a depleted high radiogenic Hf compositions (ADM), an incompatible elemental enriched component Sr un-radiogenic Nd-Hf (E-type I), element variably isotope (i.e., E-type II). The ADM I components may be understood as representing ancient melting residues metasomatic veins developed base thickening oceanic lithosphere, respectively. unique II is best explained recent geochemically mantle, probably associated Azores plume north. Taking together, we interpret E-MORB dominated OH-1 resulting relatively higher degree source composed matrix material, whereas N-MORB OH-3 lower primarily comprising components. Such petrological geochemical understanding explains contrast in crustal thickness, morphology tomography, Bouguer anomalies segments.

Geochemical and isotopic (Nd and Sr) constraints on elucidating the origin of intrusions from northwest Saveh, Central Iran
Three intrusive granitoid bodies from northwest Saveh, central Iran, are embedded in volcanic sedimentary rocks of the Eocene, forming isolated small outcrops: Khalkhab quartz monzodioritic units (SiO2: ~52-57 wt %) to the northwest, Neshveh granodioriticunits (SiO2: ~62-71 wt %) to the northeast, and Selijerd granodioritic units (SiO2: ~63-69 wt %) to the southeast. The Khalkhab unit iscomposed...
متن کاملUpper and mid‐mantle anisotropy beneath the Tonga slab
[1] Measurements of source‐side splitting in S waves from events within the Tonga slab reveal anisotropy in the upper and mid‐mantle beneath the slab. We observed splitting for events originating at both upper mantle and transition zone depths. Anisotropic fast directions ( ) are trench parallel or sub‐parallel for both upper mantle and transition zone events. Delay times (dt) decrease with dep...
متن کاملheterogeneity within the orientalist discourse: representation of the orient in womens travelogues and mens paintings
from 1950s onward, new theories and critical approaches burgeoned across humanities. these theories were context-oriented; as a result, the analysis of discursive practices gained significance. thus, social, political, historical and cultural discourses that have been hitherto marginalized and considered inferior to literary texts, were introduced as important texts to be analyzed by critics. o...
